HISTORY of THE POPP
The PENN OHIO POLKA PALS
(POPP) first saw the light of on July 27, 1976 at 7:30PM, at the American Federation of Musicians Hall, located at 2520 South
Ave. in Youngstown, Ohio.
POPPS is somewhat of a patchwork quilt, bits and pieces of nationality groups. Musicians
with Slovak, Polish, Slovenian, Serbo-Croation, Italian, and Hungarian backgrounds woven into a fraternal blanket that covers
the greater Mahoning Valley with its blanket of energy and music. With this mixture of talent, it is little wonder POPPS has
served as an incubator for a variety on tastes and events.
Their two recordings, are musical smorgasboards of sounds
offered by the multitalented members of POPP.
POPPS has glanced at its horoscope for the future and is pleased at
what it sees, an energetic and aggressive leadership, a responsable and responsive membership, an enthusiastic and loyal following,
and a further commitment to the social and fraternal structor of the Mahoning Valley.
With the bands at stage ready,
POPPS is dedicated to the preservation of its musicial treasury to future generations.
